Provenance and acquisition
Biography:
Marie Elise Loke was born 7 August 1870 in Hoorn. Her parents were Pieter Loke (1831-1895), a water engineer for the Dutch government and Geertruida Wilhelmina Henriëtte Margaretha Telders (1833-1908). Loke remained unmarried throughout her life. Loke was a teacher, translator, romance languages scholar and the first female lecturer in the Netherlands. She passed away 2 February 1916 in Groningen.
Acquisition
The collection was given to the University Library in 19xx by Inge de Wilde, an author specializing in the history of women in Dutch academia.
