Biography:

Archive of Adriaan Gerard Jongkees (1909-1999). Jongkees was a professor of medieval history and affiliated with the University of Groningen. Jongkees was known as a connoisseur of the Burgundian period since his doctorate in 1942. However, he chose diverse topics for his lectures, as he believed that students' orientation should be as broad as possible. Only later, the expansion of the staff at the historical institute allowed him to focus entirely on Burgundy and the culture of the late Middle Ages. His expertise in this research area was frequently called upon by students and fellow medievalists.

The collections has photo books, loose photographs, postcards, correspondence, notes and booklets, books, receipts. As far as possible, the inventory follows the classification Jongkees or the donor had made. E.O. van der Werff made a description of the photos present in the archive. There is a printout of them in the box of photos.
