Linked Open Data at the UB Groningen

Recently, the Plessner project was finished, in which we enriched the metadata of the correspondence of Helmuth Plessner, kept at the Special Collections. We added standardized ontologies to the metadata and published them on Omeka S, so that they can be exported to machine readable formats and connected to other institutions that are providing metadata on Plessner's correspondents.
On 16 January, dr. Franziska Pannach (Digital Humanities) and our own ICT consultant Cristina Montagner to give a short presentation about Linked Open Data. What are the advantages and pitfalls of working with ontologies and thesauruses? How can the library catalogue of the future look like?
Please be invited to two short presentations of circa 20 mins about this theme, aimed at the entire staff of the library: metadata specialists, Frontoffice, Education Support, Development and Innovation, the Special Collections and the Management Team.
