Theme cabinet: Literary non-fiction - Guest author Marja Pruis
From: | Th 31-10-2024 |
Until: | Tu 31-12-2024 |
Where: | 2nd floor UB |
The UB presents a new display in the theme cabinet dedicated to literary non-fiction, inspired by the works of UG guest writer Marja Pruis - journalist, columnist and author. The display is now accompanied by an extensive collection of e-books.
The point of view
Within literary non-fiction, it seems increasingly acceptable to put the first-person point of view first. The writer's 'I' makes the boundaries between novel, memoir and essay more diffuse. This is reflected in the personal essay, but also in non-fiction on politics and society, art and nature.
Writers
In addition to books by Marja Pruis, Pruis, the UB selected works by Joke Hermsen, Virginia Woolf, bell hooks, Rick Rubin, Simone van Saarloos, Annie Ernaux, Vivian Gornick, Naomi Klein, Tom Lanoye, Colm Tóibín, Norah Ephron, Joan Didion, Renate Rubinstein, Mary Oliver, Anne Lamott, Bas Heijne, James Baldwin and Edward W. Said, among others.
