The UB Groningen opens a special exhibition of children's and youth books on 4 October. The exhibition, which ties in with Children's Book Week, presents a diverse collection.

Visitors can admire a broad collection of works ranging from picture books like Miffy to classics like ‘Het Beugeljong’ and ‘Schoolidyllen’. The collection also includes comics, books in dialect and international translations of well-known works.

Special attention is paid to artistic book covers and illustrations, including work by Cornelis Jetses and Fiep Westendorp.

The exhibition also highlights the versatility of the collection with translations of ‘Le Petit Prince’ in Groningen, Twents and Drents, and even Latin versions of Annie M.G. Schmidt's well-known characters.

This exhibition offers a unique insight into the rich world of children's and children's literature, kept in an unexpected setting: the university library.

There is also a reading list available on children's literature.

An all-day sale of children's books will take place on Friday 4 October, with the books coming from the Children's Book House in Winsum and the proceeds also benefiting this institution.
