Press photography: a history

Photos, we encounter them everywhere every day. Indeed, without visual material we seem unable to understand the world. But photography is less than two centuries old and the use of photos in media has only been around for a century and a half. Why did it take so long, and how were photographs regarded in the media? This lecture tells a story about fake news, manipulation and the attractiveness of an image.

Please note: The festival programme, including the exact starting time of all events and activities, will be online at the beginning of September.
