Project meeting, June 27 2019, Royal HaskoningDHV office, Amersfoort

The research team, private partners, and valorisation panel members came together to discuss the progress and the way forward of the research project.

Research team member Steffen Steinert presented the philosophical work he has conducted together with Sabine Roeser. They reflected on the blind spots and dark sides of emotions and values in the decision-making on innovative technologies. Research team member Nadja Contzen gave a recap on the experimental studies the research team at the University of Groningen had condcuted and an update on an ongoing cross-cultural study on the acceptability of Solar Radiation Management. In addition, Marlies Kok presented the results of her master thesis on acceptability of Carbon Capture and Storage which she had written as part of the NWO project.

The lively discussion with the consortium members emphasized the relevance of our results for practice. However, it also highlighted the need to translate the research findings into simple, practical recommendations for practice. In line with this, the next step in our project is to prepare a tool kit on developing socially responsible innovations based on values and emotions.
