Goals
The Environmental Psychology group studies factors influencing sustainable behaviours, such as household energy use, car use, and circular behaviour. Moreover, we aim to understand which factors affect the effectiveness and acceptability of policies aimed at encouraging sustainable behaviour, and public perceptions of sustainable technology and system changes.
Here are some of the main research themes of the group:
-
Individual, social and situational factors influencing sustainable behaviour
-
Factors influencing the effects and acceptability of strategies to promote sustainable behaviour and transitions
-
How sustainable behaviour affects well-being
-
How people cope with environmental risks (such as climate change) and how such risks affect well-being and quality of life
-
Public participation in environmental policy and energy plans
-
Bottom-up small-scale pro-environmental behaviour
The group is involved in many interdisciplinary and international projects that study ways to realise a sustainable society and the sustainable energy transition.
