Method and participants

The research focused on adolescents between 12 and 18 years old, who are staying at a foster or family home. The intention was to involve adolescent foster youth during the entire research process. Via semi-structured interviews adolescents were asked to share their experiences and tell what they think is important for them regarding the eight themes. Together, the stories formed the content of the app. The outcomes were discussed by a focus group of foster youth.

For the selection of participants, a few foster care organizations in the North of the Netherlands were asked: Yorneo and Leger des Heils Noord. The family homes were recruited via Gezinshuis.com and Leger des Heils.
