General
In 2013 Project Iris was set up to gain insight in the experience, needs and expertise of families fostering a child with a history of sexual abuse. The main question is what a history of child sexual abuse previous to placement means in terms of parenting a foster child. The study pays specific attention to the experience of individual family members, as well as to experiences of the family as a system. This descriptive study includes the voices of foster parents, the biological children of foster parents and foster children. The key findings of Project Iris will contribute to the development of an e-toolkit for foster families and their network .
