Projects

The team currently works on different projects in the broad field of integration of newcomers:

  • Integration despite isolation: A team of students, the organizations ‘Groningen Verwelkomt’ and ‘Heel Groningen helpt’ as well as three Syrian researchers lead by Nina Hansen conducted research about the situation of newcomers in the Netherlands during the first lockdown. Together they developed concrete practical recommendations for the integration during the pandemic.
  • Realistic tolerance training for employers: Together with the Foundation Lemat the RUG researchers developed, conducted, and evaluated the effectiveness of a training for Dutch employers to prepare them to hire and work with newcomers.
  • Ph.D. project on “Migrant-Organization Fit and sustainable labor market integration”: In this Ph.D. project, Anne Kuschel followed newcomers in a combined language and work experience training and analyses labour market statistics to gain insights when labor market integration of newcomers is sustainable and when it may fail.

Below you will soon find a list of supervised and finished projects as well as links to resources.
