The Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) has a number of supportive internal services that ensure the smooth running of all the faculty's main research and teaching tasks.

Communication, Marketing and Information

The Communication, Marketing, and Information Department of the
Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (BSS) is responsible for internal communication with staff and students, as well as external communication with prospective students, alumni, and the general public.

Facility Services

The activities of the Facility Services consist of the construction and maintenance of an optimal material infrastructure in a safe working environment. To sum up, the tasks consist of:

  • Reception, security and housekeeping (Internal Services)
  • Occupational Health, Environment and Safety
  • Purchase
  • Seating and workspace management
  • Access control
  • Construction /e.g. building projects

The Service conducts its activities in close co-operation with central services such as the Facility Organisation, the Center for Information Technology, and the health, safety and environmental service (AMD).

Secretarial and Administrative Services (SAS)

The Secretariat Administrative Services Department (SAS) consists of approximately 40 management and office assistants. They are located close to the unit they support. The opening hours are agreed upon in consultation with the unit's chairperson or manager.

Institute of Education (OWI)

The Institute of Education is responsible for qualitative and quantitative support of teaching and research. For the teaching component this means that support is provided from the moment a student enrols for a degree programme until graduation. For researchers the support mainly consists of the exchange of information about grant possibilities and, if necessary, assistance in applying for grants.

Research Support

As Research Support for the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (BSS), we collaborate with researchers to establish a solid foundation for all research conducted at the faculty. This collaboration can extend from start to finish. We are ready to lend a helping hand from grant applications to project execution. We develop hardware and software, provide access to suitable laboratory spaces, and assist with data acquisition and sharing in an Open Science environment. Additionally, we invest in improving research policies and infrastructure.

Human Resources

The HR department of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences advises and supports the Faculty Board, the directors, managers and individual employees in personnel and organizational issues.

The advice is for:

  • staff development and organizational changes
  • the recruitment and selection of new employees
  • absenteeism and reintegration
  • assessments

The support consists of conducting employment interviews and personnel administration, including absenteeism, performance appraisal interviews and career development interviews. The support also consists information about and implementation of conditions of employment, collective agreements, legislation and university and faculty policies, regulations and procedures.

The advisors are the first point of contact for HR related issues for all employees and managers in the above mentioned departments.

The department is part of the central university Human Resources department that is part of the Office of the University.
