New beginnings 5 September 2022
As we welcome a brand new academic year, a number of our faculty colleagues are experiencing a particularly exciting time as they launch major projects. This event is designed to give them an opportunity to make themselves heard and celebrate these initiatives. Hopefully, they will lead to new insights into social and behavioral determinants of health and well-being in adolescents and adults.
Prof. Peter de Jonge (Psychology) shared the plans he and other colleagues have in the SIA consortium funded by an NWO Gravitation grant, where insights into the causes and consequences of daily-life stress will build the foundation towards more stress-resilient citizens. Dr. Zoltán Lippényi (Sociology) told us more about his VIDI project (NWO-funded) on the impact of corporate leadership quota on gender equality in organizations. Finally, Wouter Kiekens (Sociology) and Ruby van Vliet (PEdagogy) introduced a project that has received funding by NRO (PI: Laura Baams) and which should lead to a better understanding of sexual minority experiences in MBO education and the role teachers have in fostering young people’s wellbeing.
The first "New Beginnings" meeting was successful and very well received by attendees. We plan to repeat this meeting in 2023
