Visa/residence permit
The Board of the University has decided that, as of 1 September 2012 , the University of Groningen will no longer reimburse non-EU students for the costs of residence documents.
Staff members with a temporary appointment at the Faculty will be reimbursed for these costs by the Faculty, unless they are eligible for the 30% facility.
Below is an overview of the various categories of staff and students and whether or not they will be reimbursed for the MVV/VVR by the Faculty/University.

** Self-funded PhD students (international scholarship students: no employment contract), for example through the Spirit programme or Chinese Scholarship Council. Reimbursement of the MVV/VVR by the Faculty depends on the terms and conditions of the scholarship.

Because the ISD has a covenant with the IND which allows procedures to take place more quickly, the Faculty/University will initially advance the costs in order to allow this more rapid processing of visa requests to take place. These will be billed to the relevant student or staff member later.
