Introduction

At the Coach Workplace psychology students who want to be coached during their studies or student assistantship can ask for support from students or recent graduates of the Master Programme Industrial and Organizational Psychology who want to gain more practical experience as a coach after they have completed the coach training programme.

The Coach Workplace is connected with the psychology programme, and has three objectives:

  • To offer students and recent graduates from the master course Coaching the opportunity to gain more practical experience as a coach.
  • To offer students from the psychology programme additional support during their studies.
  • To facilitate research in the field of coaching.

The coaching consists of guiding (and helping) students in the course of their personal and professional development during study related activities, or whilst working as a student assistant. The points of departure are that the coached student will gain new insights because of which new and better choices can be made, students experience less stress, and students are encouraged to function better. Students who wish to use the Coach Workplace should be prepared to open up to this. They may also be asked to participate in research.

The support is individual. The coaching process averagely consists of 5 meetings, and it is meant for:

  • Students who conduct educational activities as a student assistant such as guiding and supervising practicals for the first time.
  • Students who find it difficult to plan or conduct their study activities, or who would like some support during the completion of their master’s thesis research project or internship.
