Plans for Smart & Circular Hub on Zernike Campus
The University of Groningen has explored the need for creating a center of expertise in the field of smart digitalization and circularity: the Smart & Circular Hub. A feasibility study has been carried out by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). This study shows that the hub can be unique, playing an important role in innovation in the northern ecosystem.
Major breakthroughs will be required to prepare our industrial sector for the future. Smart digitalization and circularity will be key for success. The purpose of the hub is to stimulate developments in the field of smart industry and circularity to strengthen the entire Northern ecosystem. The combination of both disciplines was shown to be unique with many opportunities to make the industry in the Northern region future-proof.
A project team led by Prof. Erik Heeres (ENTEG) is currently working on concretizing the plans. They will also approach multiple stakeholders to join in.
