What is Student for a Day?
If you are considering one of our BSc programmes our Student for a Day is for you! You will visit the programme of your choice. You will be introduced to a couple of the courses which are taught at that specific programme through a lecture, tutorial or practical. And you will get plenty of opportunity to talk to students and lecturers to decide if this is the programme for you.
Please note that Student for a Day is intended for advanced prospective students who want to get a feel for the programme to make their choice. All degree programmes of the Faculty of Science and Engineering are fully taught in English, so all lectures, practicals etc. of this day will be in English.

Limited number of places
There is a limited number of places available for each event. Placement is done by order of registration and in case of many applications, we use a waiting list. If a place opens up, you will receive an email.
On our Student for a Day-events you follow lectures together with other prospective students and you will get a feel for what a typical day in your first year looks like. Sometimes prospective students ask us if they can join an individual Student for a Day (meeloopdag), because ‘that’s more real’. However, there are many things you will miss during such a day and therefore might not get a realistic image of the programme. To elaborate:
- If you follow a random lecture you’ll have missed the lectures leading up to it and therefore sufficient background information. On our Student for Day, we usually choose the first lecture of a first-year’s lectures series, so you can understand what the lecture is about and decide if this is for you.
- On a random day, you will not able to follow all of the different types of teaching. For example both a lecture, a tutorial and a practical. With the practicals there is even more difficulty due to safety reasons.
- On our Student for a Day, you will meet several students, not just one. You can ask them all your questions. Teachers you will meet again in your first year teach the lectures, and the academic advisor is often present. Furthermore, it might be helpful for you to discuss your study choice with other prospective students who consider the same Bachelor’s degree programme.
