Preparatory Year
The Preparatory Year is offered by the Alfa-college and is designed for Dutch-speaking foreign students like higher educated asylum seekers and refugees, pursuing a higher education programme in Groningen.
The programme of this year is set out on the website of the Alfa-college (in Dutch).
* Please note!
You can skip the step 'Add previous education' when creating your Studielink account. The UG will receive a signal from Studielink that you have no prior education and will inform you about the possibilities for doing a 21+ test / colloquium doctum.
If you already filled in your prior education in Studielink, it is not possible to change this to colloquium doctum. In that case, contact the Admissions Board if you want to apply for a colloquium doctum.

* In line with the legally binding admission requirements as set for Dutch pre-university students, we do not apply a subject-specific requirement for biology. However, we do feel obliged to point out that our students generally experience our bachelor programmes to be quite demanding in terms of workload and the level of knowledge required to successfully navigate the curriculum. A good level of relevant background knowledge in biology (in addition to mathematics, physics and chemistry) is particularly important given the existence of the Binding Study Advice: students who have obtained less than 45 out of 60 credits during their first year are not allowed to continue their study programme. Therefore, in case you have not followed biology courses throughout your upper secondary education phase, it may be worthwhile to dedicate some time to strengthening your background knowledge in biology. This is not a formal admission requirement, but a kind recommendation meant to help you prepare for your studies at the University of Groningen.
Proficiency in English is an admission requirement for all English taught degree programmes. You will need to submit proof of proficiency in English as part of the application process. You are exempted for taking an English language test if you can prove that your level of English proficiency is equivalent to Dutch pre-university level (VWO). Check this website to find out which certificates are accepted as well.
As the bachelor programme Farmacie is Dutch-taught, you will need a Dutch language proficiency test, NTII. More information: https://www.staatsexamensnt2.nl/
