Research Master in Spatial Sciences gets top master label
The latest edition of the Keuzegids Masters labels 17 degree programmes at the University of Groningen as Top Degree Programmes. The Research Master in Spatial Sciences of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences scores 78 points and is therefore one of the Topmasters.
Research Master in Spatial Sciences
Students in the two-year Research Master in Spatial Sciences choose from all master programmes of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences to form their own programme, in which they may also select courses from other faculties or universities. In addition, they develop serious research skills.
Dr. Frans Sijtsma, coordinator of the programme, is happy with the result. "We are working hard to continually improve the Research Master. In recent years, we have introduced academic journals and designed research internships at renowned research institutes. The spatial changes in our world are far-reaching and complex: think of refugee flows or the influence of multinationals. In our Research Master, we try to stimulate a climate of inspired, concerned curiosity and train our students thoroughly in a wide variety of methods. The appreciation expressed in the report helps us to continue this."
Results of geography masters
In hared first place of best geographical masters in the Netherlands are Landscape Architecture and Planning in Wageningen and Population Studies of the University of Groningen, both with 64 points. With the other geographical master programmes in Groningen, we see rising figures for Economic Geography (52 to 62 points) and Socio-Spatial Planning (from 52 to 60). The Master in Real Estate Studies remains the same, the score of Environmental and Infrastructure planning has dropped again after a rise last year.
