Department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy
Chair: Prof.dr. Frank Hindriks
Secretary: Fabian Corver
Profile
The Department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy consists of a lively and international group of philosophers working at the forefront of their field. Some staff members do research at the intersection of philosophy and the behavioral and social sciences such as cognitive science, psychology, and economics. Others work in social and political philosophy, the philosophy of culture, metaethics, normative ethics, and/or applied ethics. The department takes pride in fostering dialogue between different philosophical approaches, ranging from game-theory to critical theory, and from Kantianism to error theory. The department’s research results are widely disseminated, both through high-profile academic publications and through contributions to public debates.
Research seminars, colloquia
The department conducts two monthly research seminars, where staff members and graduate students present and discuss their work in progress. The department also organises reading groups, workshops, and lectures by guest speakers.
