Arjan Frederiks selected as Top Ten 2024 – 2025 High Impact Global MSME Researcher
The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is proud to announce that Assistant Professor Arjan Frederiks has been selected as one of the Top Ten 2024-2025 High-Impact Global MSME Researchers by the International Council for Small Business (ICSB). With this prestigious recognition, the ICSB honors individuals whose research has significantly contributed to advancing micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) worldwide.
The High-Impact MSME Researchers are thought leaders whose work drives innovation, informs policy and inspires actionable solutions to MSMEs’ challenges. These researchers are committed to excellence and demonstrate a profound understanding of MSMEs’ pivotal role in fostering economic growth, job creation, and societal progress. Their studies address critical issues such as access to finance, digital transformation, crisis resilience, and sustainable development.
Entrepreneurship, creativity and decision making
Frederiks is recognized by the ICSB for his impactful research on the intersections of entrepreneurship, creativity and decision making. He is an assistant professor at FEB’s department of Innovation Management and Strategy where he teaches in various entrepreneurship courses. He also teaches in courses at the UG’s Faculty of Science and Engineering. In his research and education, he focuses on entrepreneurship, small business management, innovation and technology management.
Together with co-authors, he recently published a paper on using experimental designs to study entrepreneurship education in the journal Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy. Other recent publications of his include a study on the role of regulatory uncertainty in early adoption of blockchain’s cryptocurrency by fintech ventures in the Journal of Small Business Management and a study on entrepreneurial cognition and the quality of new venture ideas, that takes an experimental approach to comparing future-oriented cognitive processes. The latter paper was published in the Journal of Business Venturing.
