Royal Decoration awarded to Harry Garretsen
The Faculty of Economics and Business is very proud to announce Professor Harry Garretsen has been appointed Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
For many years, Garretsen, Professor of International Economics & Business and Director of the Centre of Expertise In the LEAD, has been combining his groundbreaking research at the interface of international, spatial, and macro-economics with structural attention for leadership and management.
He is known as an excellent people and society-focused researcher and expert, a skilled adviser, and a dedicated manager, who applies himself to improving quality and innovation in science with good results and obvious pleasure. This combination makes him unique in the Netherlands and abroad, and a role model for younger generations of researchers.
Together with Professor Janka Stoker, Garretsen is the founding director of the Centre of Expertise, In the Lead. They hold an important position in the field of leadership research. They are also very involved in the executive (Master-)programmes on leadership at the University of Groningen Business School.
Garretsen has combined his research with major organizational contributions to the faculty and is a former dean of FEB. He also adds great value to Dutch science and policy, especially as a board member of the MAGW ( Behavioural and Social Sciences) section at the NWO (Dutch Research Council).
