Corporate Finance

Profile of MSc Finance

The Corporate Finance profile focuses on the financial activities and strategies of corporations. It deals with how companies manage their financial resources, make investment decisions, raise capital, and maximize shareholder value.

You will acquire the ability to analyze financial statements, evaluate investment opportunities, manage capital structures, and understand mergers and acquisitions. Real-world applications include:

  • Amazon's capital budgeting for AWS,
  • Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox,
  • Toyota's currency hedging to mitigate financial risks.

These strategies enable companies to enhance shareholder value, manage risks, and ensure long-term success.

Course list

All MSc Finance students will take the following mandatory courses:

  • Advanced corporate finance
  • Portfolio theory
  • Research methods for finance

If you follow the Corporate Finance profile, you will take three additional mandatory courses:

  • Corporate valuation
  • Theoretical corporate finance
  • Corporate governance

Beyond these requirements, you have the freedom to tailor your study programme by selecting from a wide range of elective courses. To round off your programme, you will conduct independent research and write a thesis on a topic of your choice within your chosen profile, showcasing your expertise in the field of Corporate Finance. After your studies

If you pick the Corporate Finance profile, you will gain advanced knowledge about corporate finance and the financial governance of firms. Examples of possible career opportunities include (but are not limited to):
