Eligible candidates:

Chinese students from Chinese universities; Chinese students in non-Chinese universities in their last year master study, or first year PhD study in the application period; employees in a Chinese company, organization, governmental agency or research institute. Grant information:

Purposes: : Based on the agreement between UG and CSC, the CSC/UG scholarship program is for selected outstanding Chinese students to take their full PHD (3-4 years) studies at UG.

Programs:

The CSC scholarships cover the PhD students’ the living stipend (incl. medical insurance), and a return international airfare between China and the Netherlands. UG waives the bench fee and provides the supplemental scholarship to each scholarship recipient that increases CSC monthly scholarship to about at least 1850 EUR net.

The funding for each awardee will be up to 48 months. Under this program, up to 75 scholarships will be supported in 2024.

Deadline:

UG application deadline: each UG Graduate School has its own deadlines for issuing admission letters. The applicants are strongly suggested to contact the relevant Graduate Schools early and directly to ensure that they can meet the deadlines of the Graduate Schools, which vary from 6 to 2 weeks in advance of the deadline of CSC online application.

CSC online application period: 10-31 March, 2024

Application:
  1. Applicants can check the 2024 CSC PhD scholarship program announcement ("国家建设高水平大学公派研究生项目选派办法 2024") on CSC website to see if you meet the requirements.
  2. Applicants can check the PhD research programmes to find information about the specific research subjects of each UG Graduate School and the names of the coordinators.
  3. Qualified candidates should directly apply for admission to the UG’s faculty graduate school before the relevant graduate school’s deadline. They must fulfill the academic entry requirements (including English proficiency requirements) set by the relevant faculty graduate school and obtain admission letters from the graduate school. Candidates should also satisfy the selection criteria set out by CSC.
  4. End of March, UG collects the information of pre-accepted candidates from the graduate schools and sends a list of pre-accepted candidates to CSC.
  5. From 10 to 30 March, candidates must apply for the CSC scholarship online and submit required documents to CSC.
  6. CSC’s final selection results will be published in May/June.
