Welcoming Ceremony new Honours Bachelor's students
The Welcoming Ceremony for new Honours students took place on Wednesday 3 April. Out of more than 440 applicants, 351 students were selected, and were given a warm welcome by Hanny Elzinga, dean of the Honours College, and guest speakers Jan de Jeu, vice-president of the University of Groningen, and Jolijn Cruetzberg, owner of Van Hulley.
After the speeches, the students choose the name of their cohort by using the mentimeter (on their mobile phones) and voted for 'Hawking'. A group photo was taken on the stairs of the Academy Building. Afterwards, the evening ended with informal drinks where students, staff and coordinators could meet.
