Radiotoxicity equivalent
The quantity radiotoxicity equivalent (Re) is the activity which, at intake, results in a committed effective dose of one sievert. The corresponding unit is becquerel (Bq):
1 Re = 1 (Sv) / e(50) (Sv/Bq)
The radiotoxicity equivalent is proportional to the inverse of the dose conversion coefficient (e (50)). The value of the radiotoxicity equivalent strongly depends on the nuclide, the chemical properties of the radioactive substance and the method of intake.
