Frequency

The frequency (commonly denoted by the Greek letter ν) is the number of occurrences of a repeating (periodic) event, also called wave, per unit of time (t). The name is derived from the Latin word frequens, meaning "numerous". The corresponding unit is the hertz (Hz). Electromagnetic radiation is an example of such a periodic event. For this:

wavelength (λ) × frequency (ν) = speed of light (c)
