The energy (E) required by an electrical charge (Q) to traverse a potential difference (V) is:
energy (E) = charge (Q) × potential difference (V)
Since current (I) is charge (Q) per unit of time (t), electrical energy can also be written as:
energy (E) = current (I) × potential difference (V) × time (t)
