2.2. Coaching techniques for supervision
As a supervisor you support the PhD candidates in many ways. Typically, this happens also via regular conversations during which you check progress, provide feedback and inspiration, and help students deal with issues as they come up. Coaching is recognized as a mode of supervision that is crucial for the success of the PhD trajectory. But what does it mean in practice? And how and when can you take more of a coaching role in the supervision of PhD candidates? In this workshop, you will learn and practice with coaching techniques specifically designed to help you guide the PhD candidate in acquiring the skills and competencies that are needed for them to succeed as a researcher, a scientist, and a professional.
