Dr. Matt Coler
I am an Assistant Professor and Research Program Manager in the area of "Culture, Language and Technology” at Campus Fryslân. I have a BA in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts and a MA (cum laude) and PhD from the Free University of Amsterdam in Linguistics. I am also an Associated Member at the CNRS, and serve on several boards and committees relating to science and technology. I am also an Expert Panelist for the National Science Foundation and European Commission.
My multidisciplinary research interests are realized together with my team of PhD students and postdocs and a broader international network. Together we work on a diverse array of projects on topics ranging from perception/cognition and multilingual discourse to language technology and voice analysis.
I spend my free time with my family. My baby daughter exemplifies the wonder of cognition as her multilingual abilities, agency, and unique sense of self simultaneously emerge gradually right before our eyes.
