International academic collaboration during the Climate Adaptation Changemakers School
This week the 4th edition of the Climate Adaptation Changemakers School was held at the Campus Fryslân - University of Groningen. The School, a joint initiative between the university & Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) aimed to provide individuals with the expertise to develop, execute, and evaluate effective climate adaptation projects.
Professor Patrick Verkooijen, CEO of the GCA, held the annual Ban Ki-moon Chair Lecture on 'Bridging the Finance Gap: Climate Adaptation in a Multipolar World' where he stated the urgent need for innovative financing solutions to support climate adaptation efforts.
During the event a dual doctorate program was launched between University of Groningen and University of Nairobi. This collaboration will enable the next generation of climate leaders, working with Global Center on Adaptation to drive research and solutions for a resilient future.
GRL- student Marij Tolsma winner of the annual competion
Global Responsibility & Leadership student Marij Tolsma was the winner of GCA’s annual op-ed competition. She will join GCA’s delegation to COP29 in Baku, offering her the opportunity to participate in critical global climate discussions and further amplify her voice in climate adaptation advocacy.
