I2Care, health care and ICT
Because of an increase in the ageing population, the need for good healthcare is growing. However, the number of health care workers is decreasing. On top of that most elderly people prefer to live independently. Care from a distance seems to offer a solution.
The program I2care is an initiative of the ICT department of the University of Groningen and a part of the Faculty Economics and Business. The goal is to enhance scientific knowledge about ICT-applications and possibilities in the decentralized health care.
I2Care acts together with VitaValley, an innovative network in healthcare, that aims to improve the quality of life of the elderly and chronically ill people.
