Yasmine Bouzoraa
Yasmine Bouzoraa earned her Master’s degree in European Economic Law with an honours predicate and is now in the final phase of a Master’s degree programme in Legal Research. She has also achieved exceptionally high grades in this Master’s degree programme and may also graduate with honours. Her main research interests are European constitutional and institutional law, legal law, democracy, competition law, and state aid. She already has an impressive list of publications and presentations to her name. She would like to continue her research and will start on 1 September as a PhD student in Groningen in a doctoral programme that she will partly follow in Edinburgh (UK). Before coming to Groningen, Yasmine obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Middlesex University, UK. She started her Bachelor’s degree in Law in Groningen, where she also followed the Honours programme, in addition to a number of other extra-curricular course units. This included an eight-day Summer School in Shanghai on gay rights in China. Yasmine has held multiple teaching and research assistantships, has worked in a law firm, and holds the position of assistant professor. In addition, Yasmine is active in a legal reading club that she co-founded and she is a volunteer at Het Overweeghuis, a shelter for women who are considering leaving sex work. Yasmine delivered a sound pitch about European law, in which she came across as a natural-born speaker to the jury.
