't Gooi
The alumni circle of the 'Gooische Groningers' is the first alumni circle founded by the Ubbo Emmius Fund (2009). The initiators of the alumni circle in 't Gooi - and thus the founders of the' alumni circles concept '- are Frits van Bruggen, Pamela Boumeester, Rob Meuter, Bert van der Wijk, and Gerbrand Visser. The Gooische Groningers are happy to give back to the UG. That is why they jointly support Ellen Nollen's research (Aging Biology, UMCG) on the genetic causes of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other brain disorders that arise during aging. During the meetings, she shares the latest developments in her research. In addition, the Gooische alumni invite guest speakers who have studied in Groningen. For example, Frank Hoekstra (CEO of order2cash), Frits van Bruggen (Director of ANWB), Roelof Joosten (CEO FrieslandCampina), Jan Lokin (Emeritus Professor of Roman Law and Legal History at the UG), and Harry Groen (lung specialist, UMCG) were previous guests.
