Did you know that about 200 of the University of Groningen (UG) alumni live and work in Mexico? And we also have alumni who moved to Mexico after their studies and would like to stay connected to the University. That is why we established a Mexico Alumni Community with our enthusiastic Alumni Community Board at head.

Mexico Alumni Community Board

The Mexico Alumni Community Board consists of eight UG-alumni, with Arturo Diaz Barriga as President of the Board. Together, every year, we organize alumni events, Christmas and New Year's Parties, King’s Day celebrations and other alumni gatherings and professional development events.

One of our Alumni Board members is Wilfred Mohr, the Honorable Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mexico, who regularly hosts alumni gatherings.

Important partners

Our Strategic Partner in Mexico is UNAM, one of Mexico's most prestigious academic institutions. UNAM and the University of Groningen cooperate for research, publish joint papers and coordinate the sandwich PhD program.
