Privacy and GDPR alumni and fundraising
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018 . The GDPR sets out rules for organizations and businesses on collecting and processing personal data.
The University of Groningen keeps personal data on its alumni and other stakeholders, partly because we are legally required to do so and partly so that we can keep in touch with you. You are part of our extremely valuable global network of alumni, lecturers, researchers and students. We hope that you want to remain part of this Groningen-based network – whether it is so that you can use it to share knowledge and experience, or for reasons of pride or nostalgia, or because you believe in the importance of academic research and education.
The privacy statement explains which categories of data we keep on our alumni, donors and other stakeholders and what we use the data for. If there are certain emails you do not (or do) wish to receive, you can let us know via the page below.
