Successful launch for Erasmus+ KA220 project ACT UP!

On January 21st we successfully launched our Erasmus+ KA220 HED project ACT UP! Active Citizenship through Theatre for Urban Politics, exploring how citizenship can be activated and 'performed' in new ways in response to the climate emergency.

In collaboration with partners from Oslo Metropolitan University, University of Tartu and the University of Cape Town, ACT UP! aims to develop innovative and transferable pedagogical materials and resources for educators and students to engage in embodied learning and discover new ways to perform their role as active citizens, connecting their academic role to society. The kick-off brought together an audience eager to learn more about our initiative, including academics, students and external partners.

The team is led by Marian Counihan and Marline Lisette Wilders from University of Groningen, and includes Cecilie Sachs Olsen and Camilla Eeg-Tverbakk from Oslo Metropolitan University, Rike Sitas from University of Cape Town, and Anneli Saro and Hedi-Liis Toome from University of Tartu.

After opening with a presentation introducing ACT UP! followed by a Q&A session, Rike Sitas gave an inspiring lecture on arts-based practices and urban politics with a response from Senka Neuman-Stanivukovic of the Transitions and Social Justice Group from the Rudolf Agricola School for Sustainable Development.
