North America
The University of Groningen has the university has an excellent network of relationships with both the United States and Canada. This is due to decades of investment in research and educational cooperation with our partners in the United States and Canada. We engage in a wide range of research collaborations, in institutional networks as well and individual networks of our staff.
The University of Groningen has bilateral relations with a number of American and Canadian partner universities, both university wide as well as faculty-based agreements. Amongst our university-wide agreements in the US are the University of South Carolina, University of Maryland, Northeastern University, and University of Massachussetts at Amherst, Renselear Politechnic Institute and the University of Pittsburgh. In Canada we engage at a university-wide level with the University of Calgary, McGill University, Concordia University, Laval University, Sherbrooke University, Queen’s University, the University of British Colombia and Dalhousie university.
We also work closely with North American partners in (Erasmus Mundus) Joint Master programmes, such as Euroculture (Indiana University-Purdue University), NOHA (Fordham University), EMCL (City University New York, CUNY), MEME (Harvard University) and TCCM (University of Berkely, Standford University, University of South Carolina).
The Centre for Canadian Studies was founded in 1988 and is the only research and teaching centre focusing on Canadian Studies in the Netherlands. It aims to further the interdisciplinary and international development of Canadian Studies. The centre also has longstanding exchange agreements with Canadian Universities, open to all UG students.
