01 February 2016

The RUG is the highest ranked Dutch university in the sustainability ranking of the Green Metric. The University of Groningen comes in at number 12 of the 407 participating universities worldwide.

The university is very pleased because this ranking is an indication of our progress in the field of sustainability. According to Dick Jager, the project manager integrative sustainability from the RUG; this good ranking is due to a better mapping of sustainable education and publications. Yanike Sophie, coordinator of the Green Office embraces the high participation of students and employees of the RUG. “Our projects only work because of this high involvement”. This year we will develop several projects to make the university even more sustainable. Jeroen Bosveld from the Green Office and Master student Environmental and Infrastructure Planning stated that students and employees will notice the sustainable university more and more. “Sustainability will become a way of living!”

The Green Office organises a drink to celebrate the result of the Green Matric. This will be held on the 2th of February from 4.30pm until 6.00 pm at the AMD building of the RUG (Visserstraat 49).
