Water

Water consumption is an important performance indicator to gauge the sustainability of the University. Because of this one of the goals in the 2021-2026 Sustainability Road Map is to reduce the water use per person (total water consumption divided by the number of students + staff members). During the covid-years 2020-2021, the water consumption went down drastically. In 2022, the Road Map goal of 10% reduction w.r.t. 2019 has already been achieved and exceeded.

Buildings that are developed or are being built at the moment will all receive the BREEAM Excellent qualification for sustainable buildings. The Energy Academy is even certified BREEAM Outstanding. In the Energy Academy rainwater is collected to, among other, flush toilets.
