G.A. Schuurman
Geke Schuurman works within the University’s Teacher Education programme, teaching students of the Master’s and Minor programmes in Education whereby she trains them to become the teachers of the future, across a wide range of subject areas. In addition, she teaches at Dutch schools as well as universities and colleges abroad (e.g. in Hong Kong, Glasgow and Oviedo) and participates in conferences and at other educational events.
Schuurman is a dynamic lecturer who is undaunted by any educational situation, thanks to her long career in secondary education. Her lessons are stimulating, activating, interactive, student-oriented and captivating. During her lectures, she draws on practical experiences gained by her students during placements, asking them to share their experiences with fellow students so that they can learn from each other. Her passion for education is unquestionable. Using a variety of activating assignments, she imbues the entire lecture room with enthusiasm. Schuurman makes sure that the programme’s goal – to produce high-quality teachers for secondary education – is achieved, and this is vouched for by the appreciation shown by her students.
