De Boer, Dr Luuk

Luuk de Boer is an assistant professor of General Law at the Faculty of Law. De Boer studied law and history at Utrecht University, after which he obtained his PhD at Princeton University in Classical Antiquity and Interdisciplinary Humanities. He has been working at the University of Groningen since 2023.
In his research, De Boer mainly specializes in individuals who reject government authority—autonomists and sovereigns. He also focuses on bridging the gap between these still unknown groups and the government. He advocates for greater understanding because, according to De Boer, these groups aim to hold up a mirror to society. De Boer ultimately aspires to offer government bodies training on how to actively involve autonomous individuals in society, as he believes that, in some cases, a good conversation can already help.
