Her main research concerns the study of criminal law and criminal procedure in the Netherlands and abroad. Peters is especially interested in the possibilities of increasing the effectiveness of criminal proceedings. The problems surrounding subversive crime form the starting point for this. Peters studies innovations in foreign penal systems to see how we can improve the Dutch criminal justice system. One of the subjects that she researches is the Italian approach to tackling the Mafia. According to Peters, the Netherlands can benefit from the Italian anti-Mafia legislation in order to better fight organized crime.
With Capgemini Netherlands and Scotty AI, Peters will expolore whether AI can support the taking of witness statements.
