Jayawardhana, Prof. Bayu

Bayu Jayawardhana is a professor at the Faculty of Science and Engineering and scientific director of the Engineering and Technology institute Groningen (ENTEG). Jayawardhana specialises in robotics, mechatronics and non-linear control engineering. Jayawardhana’s work is mainly focused on developing techniques and systems that are socially relevant. His projects and inventions are applied in the development of medical devices, the production of clean energy and mechanical engineering. Jayawardhana considers technically trained people to be a necessity for the manufacturing industry of the future.
In collaboration with Prof. Antonis Vakis and Wout Prins, Jayawardhana has been working on the Ocean Grazer project. The Ocean Grazer is a machine that can use the swaying of ocean waves to generate energy. The ultimate goal of this project is to establish wave energy as a full-fledged alternative for generating green energy.
