Ingrid Molema new Dean of Talent Development
The Board of the University (BoU) has named Prof. Ingrid Molema Dean of Talent Development. As from 1 April, Molema will succeed Prof. Herman de Jong, who was involved in the Talent Development programme since 2019 and will retire.

Molema is Professor of Life Sciences at the Faculty of Medical Sciences/UMCG and has extensive experience and strong affinity with the theme of talent development. Particularly in her position as vice department head at the UMCG, she has learned to support colleagues in their professional development. Since its formation, she has been involved in the UG Career Perspective Series, offered by the Groningen Graduate Schools. Additionally, for years, she has been involved as a co-developer and advisor in the Veni, Vidi, Vici writing courses offered by the Talent Development team.
In her new position as Dean of Talent Development, Molema will have a central role in consolidating performances around personal research grants, awards, and memberships. As part of that, she will — amongst other things — focus on coordinating, monitoring, and supporting faculty strategies for talent development, including successful transfer from the Talent Development offers.
Prof. Jacquelien Scherpen, Rector Magnificus of the University, about the appointment: ‘I am overjoyed to welcome Ingrid Molema as the new Dean of Talent Development. With her experience and expertise, she will make important contributions to the realization of our talent development goals, building on the results of Herman de Jong and, before him, Ritsert Jansen. The Board of the University is looking forward to a pleasant and successful collaboration in this area.’
Prof. Ingrid Molema: ‘Talents are essential for society in the broadest sense of the word, and — because universities are a crucial part of society — also for us. But only talent isn’t enough. By allowing talents to develop in a favourable environment, they are stimulated to achieve their full potential. In the upcoming years, I would like to dedicate myself to further shaping and forming the University Talent Development support, together with administrators, the TD team, Faculty Funding Officers, and other parties I may not yet be aware of.’
