Jouke de Vries appointed as Honorary Consul-General of South Korea

On 24 October, Prof. Jouke de Vries, President of the Board of the University of Groningen (UG), was officially appointed as the Honorary Consul General of South Korea in the Northern Netherlands. This appointment, which took place during a ceremony attended by Ms. Hyejeong Ahn, Minister and Consul General of the Embassy of South-Korea, and two other representatives of the Embassy of South Korea, marks an important step in strengthening the ties between the University of Groningen and South Korea.
With his appointment as Honorary Consul General of South Korea, De Vries will work to further strengthen the relationship between the University of Groningen and South Korea and serve as an important liaison between Dutch organizations and South Korea. The appointment will help strengthen the UG's international position and economic ties with South Korea.
The University of Groningen (UG) already maintains several forms of collaboration with South Korea, such as student exchange programmes with South Korean partner universities and a partnership with Korea Foundation.
