Alternative Opening of the Academic Year against budget cuts
Eleven organizations are organizing an Alternative Opening of the Academic Year on Monday 2 September. The organizations, including WOinActie, are coming together in opposition to the proposed cuts of over a billion euros in science and higher education. UNL (Universities of the Netherlands) will be present and President Caspar van den Berg will speak. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to around 12:30 p.m. on the Domplein in Utrecht. The Board of the University of the UG supports this action.
The Opening of the Academic Year of the UG will take place in the afternoon in the Martinikerk church.
Monday 2 September is also the day that UNL will launch a social media campaign against the proposed budget cuts. The UG will share these messages through its social media channels.
