University of Groningen and Deloitte Netherlands sign letter of intent to promote closer collaboration
The University of Groningen (UG) and Deloitte Netherlands have signed a letter of intent on 7 September 2023, to promote closer collaboration. The signing took place around noon at the House of Connections at the Grote Markt in Groningen. The UG was represented by President of the Board Jouke de Vries and on behalf of Deloitte, Hans Honig, the CEO of Deloitte Netherlands, and Harvey Christophers, Lead Partner Sustainability, signed the letter of intent.
Sustainable Development Goals
The closer collaboration between the two parties is centered around some of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and initially focuses primarily on energy transition, and among others ‘green hydrogen’. The letter of intent stems from the shared belief that by combining expertise, resources and networks, both the UG and Deloitte Netherlands have the capacity to make a substantial contribution to achieving these SDG’s.
Collaboration
Jouke de Vries is looking forward to further collaboration between both parties: ‘Deloitte and Campus Fryslân as well as the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Groningen have worked together before. Earlier collaboration tasted like more, therefore we have now signed this Letter of Intent between the University of Groningen and Deloitte.’
The UG and Deloitte are already working together within Chapter Zero Netherlands, the Dutch branch of the Climate Governance Initiative (GCI). Within Chapter Zero, Faculty Campus Fryslân and Deloitte Netherlands jointly organize 'Living Labs' for UG-students. In addition, the University of Groningen Business School (UGBS), part of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Campus Fryslân and Deloitte together organize 'Executive Learning Sustainability programs' for directors and partners of Deloitte and other large companies.
