The Groningen Municipal Health Service (GGD) supervises return of Vindicat students
Posted on: 5 March 2020
GGD Groningen is taking measures to coordinate the return of the Vindicat group of students from Northern Italy in order to prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus. Students showing no symptoms will be able to return and will receive extra information. Those who develop any symptoms during the journey will be tested upon their return to Groningen. The students have received the same advice as other Dutch residents returning from high-risk areas.
This week, GGD Groningen has had daily contact with the Vindicat travel guide to provide the students with information and tips on how to prevent infection due to the virus.
RIVM and GGD Groningen did not see it as medically necessary for the group to return early therefore, the decision to terminate the ski trip earlier than planned was taken independently by Vindicat. As far as we now know, none of the students in the group is showing symptoms that could indicate that they have been infected with the coronavirus.
Buses
The students will return to Groningen on Saturday by bus. Before the group starts their journey, those with any symptoms will be asked to report them and will be taken care of by the local authorities in Italy. Upon the phased return on Saturday, GGD Groningen will meet with the returning students at a location that is yet to be decided. At this location, the students will receive information, GGD Groningen will answer any questions they may have and, if necessary, the students will be subject to extra checks.
