Stress influences the performance of athletes
The performance of team athletes is not only determined by training, but also by psychosocial stress factors. This also applies to the risk of injury. This has been revealed by research conducted by PhD candidate Henrike van der Does (UMCG/UG).
According to Van der Does, coaches would be well advised to chart movement techniques at the start of the season and during the season monitor the training burden, the recuperation and the psychosocial stress and recovery of the players. This could reveal the individual needs of the players and could be used to prevent injuries and optimize training sessions.
